I bought the scooter from Ebay on Thursday 19th July, 2007 for $205 (Australian dollars). The people I bought it from was a motorcycle mechanic who had stripped it for parts to restore another NSU Prima D he had picked up from someone's shed.

What's New

01/02/2009 This isn't mine (I wish) but it's worth a look .

02/12/2008 Peter and Sonya's NSU Prima D features on the cover of the latest issue of Scooter magazine.  The cover art is a little too feminine for my liking but the article is good and the photos are great. You can subscribe or order this issue by visiting their website

23/11/208 Peter and Sonya from Silvar Start Bikes (the people I bought the scooter from) invited me to come and have a look at their finished Prima D today while thwy were having a coffee near my place.  It is absolutely amazing and the sort of quality restoration that I can only dream of.  I have put acouple of photos below but you should vists their website to see the Prima and all of their other scooter restorations. There is a link to their site on the NSU Prima Links page.

18 August 2008 Sonya and Peter (the people I bought the scooter from) were given the original speedo and have generously given it to me. THANKS!

2 March 2008 Looking for parts on Ebay is becoming an obsession - my wife and kids are worried. Gotta go - Ebay is waiting...

I thought mine was in a bad way.  Check this out - this is currently listed on Ebay! It looks like it really did come out of a river.  (the sad thing is if it wasn't pick up from Germany - I'd bid for it).

Have been going well.  I've added a heap of Before and After photos of some of the parts I've been paiting and also some new links.  I am trying to get a CD together of all of the repair and owner manuals, parts guides etc..

I bought a horn today for $5 which was a bargain.  It's not original but it will do.  I've resprayed the petrol tabk today and will add some photos soon.

25 February 2008 -
Things are going well and I've been sanding madly to get parts primed and resprayed.  There is still a long way to go and I have started adding up all of the nuts, screws and bolts I'll need (which is almost all of them).  If this website allows me to, I'll add the list as a document attachment.

I've decided on Black as the colour - which is also a colour in which the Prima D's were issued originally.  I've pinched a picture of someone else's scooter which is what I'm hoping mine will look like in the end (below).

- Have scored a Prima legshield badge for $8!!  I was pretyy happy abouyt considering it sells for around $70 from the part sellers.  Also my fork cowling is due to arrive (from England with my nephew) on Sunday so I can't wait to see him.

22 October 2007 - Have made some progress including buying some parts from Ebay (front headlight chrome -$25; Front fork cowling $50) Those prices included postage so I was pretty happy with them.

I have also stripped the frame back and begun sanding it back.  I have bought the undercoat/primer and also some wire brush, drill attachements and a basic panel beaters kit.

I have been calling this a "consolidation phase" which isn't probably fooling anyone!
